Density:. When making jam, it is not always possible to correctly estimate the density of the finished product after freezing. But there is one way to do that: put the plate in the freezer for 15 minutes and when the time is up, drip hot jam on it and bend it. The viscosity that the jam will have on the ice plate will also be your cold product.

Quantity of sugar:. In the past, many cookbooks suggested that sugar be consumed in equal amounts to the weight of berries. However, pure sugar gives no taste to the berries. Therefore, we recommend taking 500 g of sugar for 1 kg of berries, and in case of sour berries, for example, cherries, you can increase the amount of sugar up to 600 g, but not more.

More juice. Not all berries are juicy. To avoid adding too much water to the jam, you can simply cover the berries with sugar overnight to release the juice, and the next day you have to cook them.

Alcohol և herbs. Making berry jam alone seems boring to us, so you can add some herbs or alcohol. For example, strawberry jam with basil or apricot jam with brandy. It should be noted that herbs should be added a few minutes before the end of cooking, but you can experiment with alcohol by adding it in the middle or at the end of cooking. Depending on the size of the yard, only one or two toys will fit.

Sterilization of jars. There are several ways to sterilize banks. They can be steamed or boiled. But the most practical way is to use the oven. It is enough to put clean and dry jars in the oven heated to 180 degrees for 30-40 minutes, and then use them immediately for scrolling. You need to know that it is necessary to do it quickly, because in 15 minutes the jars will need to be sterilized again.

Please note that the jam is suitable not only for drinking tea. It can be used to make good sauces that go well with poultry, meat and fish. So, for example, pork chops will get a completely new taste if served with strawberry sauce, and cranberry sauce is ideal for turkey.
